Biography

Carlie Melody Mae: Word Weaver

"I have kissed death on the mouth,
and wept in God's hand."
                                                                            - Whirlwind, 2025

Carlie Melody Mae is a neurodivergent Canadian writer whose work explores the wild places between who we are and who we are becoming. Drawn to the moments that are hard to name and the emotions that are hard to feel, she writes for readers who have found themselves standing at life's crossroads.

Her path to writing wasn't paved by certainty. It was forged through profound personal transformation. She has survived assault, PTSD, divorce, stage 3 cancer and more. While walking through these seasons that challenged her identity, her health, and her understanding of the world around her, Carlie found comfort in words. As she began to share her writing, she saw the magic of shared experiences; the profound impact when others realize they are not alone in what they are carrying. Writing became both a compass and a bridge: a way of making meaning from the worst moments of our lives and connecting the hearts of humans from all walks of life through story.

Carlie believes the most powerful stories don't simply transport us to another world--they help us return to our own with fresh eyes. She hopes her work leaves readers feeling a little more curious, a little braver, and a little less alone.
